About

Welcome to GlottalStop! My goal is to create a top-quality blog and collection of resources for language learners.

My name is Ben Gubler (opens in a new tab) and I'm a software engineer with a passion for languages. I've been learning languages for years now and I want to share what I've learned.

I also want to share the resources I've found helpful. I've spent a lot of time researching the best language learning tools and methods, but I know that those can be hard to find. That's why GlottalStop will include reviews of language learning apps, websites, and books -- plus links to my favorite Anki decks :).

Why the Name GlottalStop?

The glottal stop is a sound found in many languages, including English. It's the sound you make when you say "uh-oh" or "uh-uh."

I chose the name for my website because I think it's fun and memorable. Plus, there's a play on words: "glottal stop" brings to mind the word "polyglot," which is someone who speaks many languages.
